What to bring to your tax return appointment

A simple checklist so your individual tax return is quick, accurate and claims everything you are entitled to.

Coming prepared makes your appointment faster and helps make sure nothing is missed. Here is what to gather before you see us.

Income

  • Your income statement (most details are available to us through the ATO once you are our client)
  • Bank interest and dividend statements
  • Details of any foreign income, government payments or employee share schemes
  • Sole traders: a summary of business income and expenses

Deductions

  • Receipts for work-related expenses such as tools, uniforms, training and subscriptions
  • A record of hours worked from home and related running costs
  • A logbook or record of work-related car trips
  • Donation receipts of $2 or more to registered charities

Investments

  • Rental property income and expense statements, including loan interest
  • Settlement statements for any property bought or sold
  • Records of shares or cryptocurrency bought and sold during the year

Other

  • Private health insurance details
  • Your bank account details for any refund

Not sure whether something is deductible? Bring it along and we will check. You can also download our Individual Tax Return Checklist from the Forms page.
